Admin Retreat Recap

Hey Team, it was great listening to the first 2 sermons with you all.  I just wanted to jot down my thoughts and notes from the first 2.

Intro Sermon:
- The 10 Words come after grace.  "I am your God, who has freed you from slavery....."  They are not a means of receiving grace.
- The 10 Words were spoken to protect and enhance this new life of freedom
- Israel celebrated the giving of the Law...Celebrated!
- Forget the opening line, "I am your God, who has freed you from slavery...." and the commandments become a crushing weight.

Sermon #1 - You shall have no other gods before me:
- We are always answering the question, "Whom will I live for? Whom will I worship?"
- Human Beings are worshiping creatures
- God spoke this commandment to keep us from ruining our lives
- The first commandment is about allegiance and loyalty
- Disobey the first commandment and you return to slavery to non-gods
- Severe Mercy
- We relate to the one true God only to the degree that it is good for our idols....ouch!

Looking forward to the journey ahead.  Thanks again for a great weekend.  Mirm we missed you!
