COMMANDMENT # 2 – ALPHA AND OMEGA-ING ALL THINGS GOD……IN CHRIST!!!

COMMANDMENT # 2 – ALPHA AND OMEGA-ING ALL THINGS GOD……IN CHRIST!!!
The message brought to mind for me two things:

# 1 – As I thought about Darrell’s repeated assertion that “He (God) spoke the commandments to protect and enhance a life of freedom,” I kept thinking about Paul’s concluding points about Israel’s history and salvation through Christ in Romans 11.  Those closing points are….

Oh, the depth of the riches of the wisdom and i knowledge of God!
How unsearchable his judgments,
and his paths beyond tracing out!
“Who has known the mind of the Lord?
Or who has been his counselor?” j
“Who has ever given to God,
that God should repay them?” k
For from him and through him and for him are all things.
To him be the glory forever! Amen.

I love how our faith tradition wraps (alpha and omegas) all things “God” - even the 10 Commandments -  in the power, wonder, and majesty of Christ’s salvation!”

#2 – The following quotes brought to mind a  passage out of the Super Ultra on GENUINE LOVE OF GOD IN CHRIST.

Quotes from Sermon
“He spoke the commandments to protect and enhance a life of freedom!”
“We were created in such a way that only God can satisfy the longing of our hearts.  Only God can fill and fulfill our finite hearts. “
"The commandment… “frees us from a faulty concept of god which localizes god.”
“The more we focus on Jesus the more we become like him. We become more what we are created to be.”

From Super Ultra Packet
In Christ and through Christ we are His children.  In Christ and through Christ we behold His love, we receive His love, we are created in His image, and purified.  “Behold what manner of love the Father has given unto us, that we should be called children of God!...And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies Himself, just as He is pure.  The pure motive for serving and sacrifice stems from the spring of Hope that flows from seeing Christ crucified for you!

“The more we focus on Jesus the more we become like him. We become more what we are created to be.”

AMEN!
