Lord, break out of all of my boxes

It has never really been explained to me what it means for God to be jealous. This definition is simple yet a perfect picture of who God is towards His people. God's jealousy is one of praiseworthy zeal to protect something extremely important. His jealousy for me is one that seeks to protect me and keep me safe from anything that doesn't reflect the likeness of Himself.
After listening to this weeks sermon, I needed to take a quick step back and ask myself the question that DJ poses; in what ways do I worship the one true God in the wrong way? Or better said, when do I put God in a box? Man, I will be wrestling with this all week! Good thing God literally GAVE us an image to worship that is acceptable, Jesus Christ. What a gift, and such a blessing that we get to read God's word and find Christ on every page.
God I pray that I would be aware of the idols in my life and seek to worship the one that in return allows me to become more of what you created me to be!

  1. I found DJ's explanation of God's jealousy really clarifying as well. I've never really understood the distinction between human jealous from lack of satisfaction and a holy, righteous, and dignifying jealousy of protecting, as you say, something extremely important.

  2. I also really resonated with his description of jealousy! It really makes you realize how much God loves and values us. Thanks for sharing Maddie!
