This One Thing

It is so simple.  The living God only requires ONE thing of us: Trust me, believe me, just say, “Amen” to me and my word.  That’s it, God? You just need my “Yes?”  I just need to believe?  Oh how this is a running theme and conversation God and I have together!  I can point to times in my life when I have not been sure or clear in life decisions, and I have heard him whisper to me, “Nina, I just need your YES, leave the rest up to me…I just need your Yes.”    How simple.  How good.  “Nina, just believe.  Give me your AMEN!”
I also think about dear friends who have struggled with, delayed, fought, of ignored opportunities to know God.  “I’ll think about it later, I don’t want to change my life, my life is good now, I’ll think about that stuff when I am older.”  These are all common sentiments and opinions, and I want to plead with them, “He just needs your amen!”

Darrell preaches that to believe God is to say, “Amen….Your word is true, Your word is sure, Your word is reliable, Your word constitutes a weight on my life. I put my weight on You. So be it. Amen.”  I couldn’t help but think back and connect this “amen” to last week’s sermon when Darrell refers to throwing ourselves on God each new day.  The act of throwing myself on God today will not sustain me tomorrow.  I want to say, “Amen!” each morning.  I want to wake up shouting, “AMEN, GOD!  Your word is TRUE!  Your word is SURE!  Your word is RELIABLE!  Your word has WEIGHT on my life, and I put my weight on you!”  AMEN!!!
