Mr. Johnson’s question, “On what basis can I a mere mortal
have a relationship with the holy God?” reminded me of our role playing
interview question, #13. In that
question we ask the applicant to respond to a student who wants to know more
about who Jesus is?
I was inspired as Mr. Johnson affirmed that Jesus is the
bread of life without whom you cannot live. He paraphrases Jesus as he says, “you
need me more than you need your next meal.” (This affirmation answered both questions to some extent..... the guy is gooood.)
I was put in a position of praise and wonder when Mr.
Johnson proclaimed Christ as the fulfillment of the law, the prophets, Paul’s
theological inspiration, and the one upon whom Abraham rejoiced and “amened.”
Mr. Johnson positions Abraham’s confession of belief as “the gospel. In
that one line. That’s the good news.”
Christ’s eternal redemptive invasion upon Abraham (back then) and us
(now) leaves me awestruck. His love pursuit is a simultaneous flash back
to Ur and flash forward to Lodi. That’s
a lot flashing through time and space. NEVER STOP SHINING JESUS...... in us!!!
Got to shout it - You are a Marvelous God with an Awesome salvation!

To think we can ignore God, accuse God as a liar, dream up our
own way, as options other than “throwing yourself on God” belief is super ultra
ridiculous (even though I do this stupid stuff,) and yet, making allowance for these options instead of belief is a super mega ultra
testimony of God’s insane (appears insane to a crackpot like me) patience, kindness, and delicate
manner by which He bids us to intimacy.
Got to shout it again - You are Marvelous God with an Awesome salvation!! WOW!!
