Josh Vance, M.D.

Whoops! Sorry, had this saved on a Word document and never posted it…

When Darrell Johnson performed that back-and-forth on stage with the “doctor,” I found myself in the shoes of the patient to the greatest extent possible.  That is absolutely me.  I live under this assumption that my 24 years of life has somehow surpassed the knowledge of our omniscient, all-knowing Savior.  I am so naïve!

And, He is SO graceful that He, in His grace, walks alongside me even though I am inexcusably dissatisfying His proclamations!  He prods me, makes accurate, infallible arguments, and directs me to the straight and narrow.  Yet, I tell Him, “God, it’s all good, I needed a doctor, but I’m healthy now.”  What a mistake: to think I’m healthy.

Mark 2:17, “"It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners."

  1. Hi Josh. I love the candid humility in your line "I find myself in the shoes of the patient to the greatest extent possible." Oh my, could I relate! Jesus offers to heal me with His fresh breath of life and freedom and I'm token on unfiltered Camels wondering why I'm sucking wind. Thanks for convicting me of pride & over reliance on self-determination.
